Although day trips are a great way to get a taste for the area, in our opinion The Cotswolds is not a place you should rush around if you want to experience all the best the region has to offer. You can easily divide the area in to North and South Cotswolds. The North encompasses Broadway, Chipping Campden, Moreton-in-Marsh, The Slaughters, Stanton, Stow-on-the-Wold and Winchcombe.
To the North is also Shakespeare’s birthplace and the city of Stratford-Upon-Avon.
The South covers Bibury, Burford, Cirencester, Fairford, Lechlade and Painswick. To the South, and in the outlying area, are the cultural cities of Oxford and Bath.
Cheltenham, situated on the West edge of the Cotswolds, is a good location from which to explore the area.
