Burford

20 miles north of Oxford is Burford, an old Town made famous during the wool Trade and which has remained popular with tourists who choose to wander through the town and base theselves here when exploring the area. The bottom of the High street is clearly marked by the bridge over the river Windrush, from there the street climbs gently uphill with many characteristic 17th and 18th century frontages to the buildings. Burford is full of lovely old stone houses, seen from the high street or found by stepping in to the many courtyards and alleyways. The town is also well known as a mecca for antiques shopping.
